Frequently asked questions

Answers about appointments, medical records, work injury claims, billing and what to bring to your first visit.

How quickly can I be seen after a work injury?

Usually the same day, and almost always within 24 hours. Call 312-951-8200 and centralized scheduling will place you with the appropriate physician in the network. Walk-ins are also welcome through Quick Care.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can contact us directly. If your employer, adjuster or attorney has already sent a referral, mention their name when you call so we can match it to the file.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, the claim number and adjuster details if it is a work injury, any imaging or reports from another provider, and a list of your current medications.

What if I don’t have insurance?

Tell us when you call. Work injury and personal injury care is often billed to the claim rather than to you, and we will explain how that works for your situation before you are treated.

How do I request my medical records?

Email medicalrecords@ionorthopedics.com and we will send you the release form and the process. Please do not send record requests through the website contact form.

What information is in my health record?

A health record is created any time you see a health professional. It can include your medical history and your family’s medical history, labs and x-rays, medications prescribed, notes from your doctor or nurse, results of operations and procedures, details about your lifestyle, and identifying and financial information held for billing.

Can my attorney get reports directly?

Yes, with your authorization. Prompt medical reporting is a core part of our Workers’ compensation and Personal injury services, and your case manager keeps all parties updated.

Do you offer second opinions and IMEs?

Yes. Second opinions and Independent Medical Evaluations are available across the network. Call scheduling to arrange one.

Is someone available who speaks Spanish?

Yes. Our case management team is bilingual, and this site is also available in Spanish.

What if it is an emergency?

Do not wait for us. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Contact us afterwards for follow-up and ongoing treatment.

Need to be seen today?

Centralized scheduling books you with the right provider in the network, usually the same day.
